86 percent of the cohort achieved 5 or more GCE O-Level passes. In the Express stream, 14 subjects scored above national average, while in the Normal stream, 8 subjects were higher than or the same as national average. In addition, we achieved a record high in our percentage passes in English Language at two percentage points higher than the national average of 93 percent. Our top pupil, S R E Poongodai, scored eight distinctions and is currently studying at National Junior College.

 

Green Schools @ South West Programme in 2011

 

Our school has been awarded GOLD for our participation in the Green Schools @ Southwest Programme organised by Southwest CDC. This programme, which is held annually, aims to educate and instil the importance of environmental responsibility in students through student participation in green modules of activities. >>more

Ex-Hong Kah Lite, a Silver Medalist in Ngee Ann Polytechnic


Another ex-Hong Kah Lite, Suresh S/O Rajasekaram class of 4N2 year 2004, has made our school proud by becoming one of the top graduates of Ngee Ann Polytechnic year 2011 with the following awards:

- Diploma in Nursing (Merit)

- Singapore Nurses Association Silver Medal

- National University Hospital Prize

 

 

Friend of Singa Award 2011 - 8 FOS (Friend of Singa) Ambassadors archieved the Silver Award in FOS project

 

This year, our 8 FOS (Friend of Singa) Ambassadors have carried out their school wide FOS project which is organized by SKM and they have achieved the Silver Award for this project.  Differently Able Football Carnival

 

Last Saturday the Football Club organised the Differently Able Carnival for participants from the Chao Yang School and Grace Orchard School, as well as the team from the Singapore Disability Sports Council. The objective of the carnival is to promote disability football and foster friendship between our boys and girls and children with special needs.

 

The boys from Chao Yang and Grace Orchard participated in the training that was planned and conducted by our sec 2 and 3 members. The team from the Singapore Disability Sports Council played a friendly with our football girls. All those who were present had fun interacting and playing football together. All participants and pupil organisers were presented with a medal for their active participation.

HKSS Drumatix Batucada participated in the DrumzOut 2011 Competition organized by NTU for the first time. They emerged as runners up for Secondary School Category and Open Category. Well Done Drumatix.

We’re pleased to receive the latest piece of good news from ITE.
 
  • Nurul’ain bte Rawi (S4D 2006, FT: Jo-Ann and Shih Chin) won the course medal for Higher NITEC in Business Studies (Service Management).

  • Wang Weiwen (4N1 2006, FT: Jamie, Yeo YB) won the course medal for Higher NITEC in Leisure and Travel Operations.

Our Hong Kah Soccer Stars Making Their Mark in the 2010 Youth Olympics Games

 

Three of our Soccer ‘B’ Division were selected to represent Singapore in the world’s first Youth Olympics Games.  They are Ammirul Emmran Bin Mazlan,  Muhammad Firdaus Bin Mohd Sham and Hamzah Fazil. 


We are immensely proud that our pupils shone as disciplined sportsmen when they fought bravely alongside the other cubs in the U-15 boys’ football team to put Singapore football on the world map.

Mrs Yvonne Cheen received “The Inspiring Teacher of English Award”on the 22nd of October 2009.

The Award was started to acknowledge teachers who have been instrumental in igniting a love for the English language in their students and are effective in helping their students speak and write better. The Award also sets out to have teachers share their teaching practices with their fellow teachers.
